At Neelansh equipment & machines we manufacture pass boxes with enhanced design and manufacturing techniques whereas it is in more space, robust, hygienic and easy to clean. A pass box (pass-through box) transfers materials between two areas of different cleanliness without opening the cleanroom to personnel traffic. We make two types: a static pass box with interlocked doors and UV light, and a dynamic pass box that adds a blower with HEPA filtration to keep the chamber at Class 100 (ISO Class 5) during transfer.
Every pass box is manufactured in-house at our factory in Hadapsar, Pune. We supply, install and commission pass boxes across India, including Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore and Ahmedabad, and build each unit to your room layout, size and process requirements.

What is a pass box and how does it work?
A pass box, also called a pass-through box or transfer hatch, is a small stainless steel chamber built into the wall between two rooms. It lets materials, samples and tools move from one area to the other without anyone walking through, so the cleaner room is never opened to the corridor or the less clean area next to it.
Each side has its own door, and the two doors are interlocked: while one door is open, the other stays locked. The operator on the outer side places the material inside and closes the door; only then can the operator on the inner side open their door and take it out. This one-door-at-a-time rule is what stops unfiltered air and particles from following the material into the classified area.
In a dynamic pass box, a blower then pushes air through a pre-filter and a HEPA filter into the chamber, flushing out particles brought in with the material before the inner door is opened. A UV lamp, used while both doors are closed, reduces the microbial load on exposed surfaces between transfers. It supports, but does not replace, wiping the material and the chamber with an approved disinfectant.

Types
Pass box types we manufacture
Static pass box
A sealed chamber with interlocked doors, UV light and door indicator lights, without a fan or filter. Used to transfer material between two areas of the same cleanliness class, for example between two Grade C rooms.
Dynamic pass box
Adds a blower with pre-filter and HEPA filter that flushes the chamber with Class 100 (ISO Class 5) air, plus a magnehelic differential pressure gauge and a PAO port for filter testing. Used between areas of different classes, such as a corridor and an aseptic area.
Three-door pass box
A chamber with doors on three sides, for layouts where material is shared between three rooms. Each door is interlocked with the others.

How to choose the right pass box
Static or dynamic
Same class on both sides: a static pass box is usually enough. Different classes, or an aseptic area on one side: choose a dynamic pass box.
Chamber size
Size the chamber to the largest item you will transfer, with room to place it without touching the walls. Common internal sizes run from about 450 mm to 900 mm cubes. We build every pass box to the size, wall opening and wall thickness you need.
Interlock type
Mechanical interlocks are simple and need no power. Electromagnetic interlocks add door status lights and can be tied to the UV and blower cycle.
Material and finish
SS 304 suits most areas. SS 316 is the better choice where strong disinfectants are used daily. Choose a matt or mirror finish.
Wall and mounting
Tell us the wall type and thickness (masonry, modular panel, drywall) so the frame and flanges sit flush and seal properly.
Testing access
For dynamic units, a PAO port and a differential pressure gauge make HEPA integrity tests and routine checks straightforward.

We supply, install and commission them across India, including Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore and Ahmedabad, and build each unit to your wall opening, room classes and transfer needs.
Pass boxes are usually planned together with the rest of the room's cleanroom equipment: laminar air flow units for open aseptic work, dispensing booths for weighing powders and bio safety cabinets for microbiology. Tell us the sizes and quantities you need and send us your requirement for a quotation. Items that must be sterile before they go through, such as garments, change parts and filters, are usually sterilised first in a vacuum steam sterilizer.

What sizes do pass boxes come in?
Pass boxes are commonly made with internal chambers from about 450 × 450 × 450 mm to 900 × 900 × 900 mm. We build to the size you need, including three-door models, so tell us the largest item you transfer and your wall thickness.
Why is a UV light fitted in a pass box?
The UV lamp reduces the microbial load on the chamber surfaces and on the outside of the material while both doors are closed. It supports, but does not replace, wiping the material and chamber with an approved disinfectant.
Which tests are done on a dynamic pass box?
Typically an interlock check, HEPA filter integrity test through the PAO port, air velocity measurement and a particle count of the chamber. Our dynamic pass boxes include a PAO port and a magnehelic differential pressure gauge for these checks.
