Cabinet for Apron & Shoes

A cabinet for apron and shoes is a stainless steel unit that holds both parts of a change routine in one place: an open section with hooks for hanging aprons or lab coats above, and lockable compartments for footwear below. It stands in the change room or at the entrance to a lab or production area, where people put on or take off their apron and change shoes.

Keeping aprons and shoes in the same unit but in separate sections makes the change routine simple to follow. Aprons hang freely so they stay uncreased and air out between uses, without touching the floor or the shoes. Each person's footwear goes into their own compartment, so outside shoes and work shoes are not left on the floor or mixed up.

Because change rooms are cleaned often, the cabinet has to be easy to wipe down. Smooth stainless steel surfaces and welded construction stand up to daily cleaning with disinfectants. There are no fabric, wood or painted parts to absorb moisture, chip or hold dirt, so the cabinet looks the same after years of cleaning.

Our cabinet for apron and shoes is built in SS 304 or SS 316, in a matt or mirror finish. It has a spacious apron hanging section with hooks and separate shoe compartments, each with its own lock. Sizes and the number of hooks and compartments are made to suit your staff numbers and room.

Place the cabinet where the change actually happens: at the entrance to the lab or production area, or on the outer side of the cross-over bench in a change room. On the way in, people take off their outside shoes, lock them in their compartment, put on work shoes and take their apron from its hook. On the way out they reverse the steps, so work shoes and aprons stay on the inside and outside shoes never go further than the cabinet.

Space the hooks so aprons do not touch each other, and give each person their own hook and compartment, labelled if possible. Aprons should go for washing on a fixed schedule rather than staying on their hooks indefinitely.

A cabinet sized only for today's staff fills up quickly as shifts grow. It is worth allowing a few spare hooks and compartments for visitors, contractors and new staff; spare compartments can also hold a set of clean work shoes for visitors.
