What is an SS sink unit and where is it used?
An SS sink unit is a stainless steel sink built into a frame or cabinet, used for hand washing, washing parts and utensils, and disposing of water in production areas, change rooms and laboratories. In clean areas it has to be as easy to clean as the rest of the room, so it is made of stainless steel with smooth, welded surfaces.
Hand washing is one of the steps of the gowning sequence before entry to a clean area. A tap that has to be turned by hand can recontaminate clean hands, so many sites choose hands-free taps, such as sensor taps, at sinks used during gowning. Splash backs and closed sides keep water off walls and floors, and a worktop beside the sink gives space to set down parts while they are washed.
Our SS sink units are built in SS 304 or SS 316 in a matt or mirror finish. They are available with TC fittings, manual taps or sensor taps, with splash backs, three sides closed, shelves and doors, and with wheels for movement. The table with sink unit combines a sink and worktop with a backsplash, three lockable cabinets underneath and adjustable SS legs for levelling. We also install them.

How to choose the right sink unit
What it is used for

Material
SS 304 suits most areas; SS 316 where strong chemicals or disinfectants are used. SS 304 as standard, SS 316 on request, in a matt or mirror finish.
Water, drain and installation
Plan the water supply and drain at the sink's position; we install our sink units. Tri-clamp fittings for quick, hygienic connections that can be taken apart for cleaning.

Sinks in change rooms are often paired with hand dryers and dispensers and SS working tables in wash areas. See our full range of cleanroom furniture, and send us your requirement with the size, taps and fittings you need. Tell us where the sink will stand and what will be washed in it, so the bowl and enclosure suit the job. Tell us how many people wash at each point at shift change, so we size the bowls and taps to the queue. To drain the sink in a classified area, fit an SS drain trap. Containers and IPC bins washed here can be dried in an infrared dryer before they go back into use, and the floor around the sink is cleaned with an SS mopping trolley.
