What makes a chair or stool right for a hospital?
Hospital seating has to do more than an office chair. Doctors sit on stools at the examination couch and in operation theatres, nurses and technicians sit at workstations and on laboratory stools at the bench, and patients and attendants sit in wards and waiting areas. Every one of those seats is cleaned and disinfected often, and many are moved around the room several times a shift.
That is why stainless steel seating is common in clinical areas. Health building guidance such as the NHS HBN 00-09 asks for furniture that withstands repeated cleaning and disinfection, and soft furnishings that are impermeable and easy to clean; a stainless steel seat with no fabric, foam or open seams leaves nothing for dirt or fluids to soak into. Smooth tubes and welded joints wipe down quickly.
The right seat also suits the work. A stool lets a clinician move freely around the patient and work close to them, while a chair with a back supports staff during longer sitting work. A tilting back moves with the person and is more comfortable for long periods; a fixed back is simpler and sturdier. Wheels let a seat move with the user, but in places where a seat must stay put, fixed legs are safer.
Floors matter too. Plain steel feet can scratch floors and slide, so tips or bushes on the legs protect the floor, reduce noise and help the seat stay where it is placed.
Our SS chairs and stools are made in SS 304 stainless steel in a matt or mirror finish, with nylon bushes fitted in the legs. They are available with wheels, and the chairs come with a tilting back or a fixed back. Stiffeners on the step shelves add strength and sturdiness. Besides hospitals, they are used in offices, production areas, granulation areas, change rooms, store rooms, washing areas and warehouses.

Are your chairs and stools suitable for cleanroom environments?
Definitely, it is made of fully 304 stainless steel and it can be sterilised in an autoclave.
Which grade of stainless steel are you using?
We are using 304/316 grade stainless steel in all our products, some of the products are made from 316 grade stainless steel as per client’s demands.
Do your chairs come with a tilting back?
Yes. Our SS chairs come with a tilting back or a fixed back, and both chairs and stools are available with wheels.
Why are nylon bushes fitted in the legs?
