What is a cylinder trolley and how does it work?
A cylinder trolley is a wheeled stand that holds a gas cylinder upright and secure while it is moved. Plants, hospitals and laboratories move cylinders of gases such as nitrogen, oxygen and carbon dioxide between stores and points of use all the time, and a trolley makes that a safe one-person job.
Gas cylinders are heavy, tall and narrow, and safety guidance on them is consistent: keep them upright and secured, never roll or drag them, and move them on a trolley that holds them in place. A falling cylinder can injure people and damage its valve. A cylinder trolley carries the cylinder on its own base, with a ring and a holding mechanism around it, so it cannot topple while it is pushed, turned or parked.
We make two designs. The SS cylinder trolley has a round base with a guard ring and a tall push handle. The SS vessel trolley is an open ring frame on four castors that carries a round vessel or container. Both have heavy-duty 360° swivel castors with brakes and are made in SS 304 or SS 316, or in mild steel with a powder-coated finish.

How to choose the right cylinder trolley
Cylinder or vessel
Choose a cylinder trolley for gas cylinders and a vessel trolley for round vessels and containers.
Size
Tell us the diameter and height of your cylinders or vessels, so the ring fits closely and the handle sits at a comfortable height. Ring diameter and handle height made to suit the cylinders or vessels you use.
Holding the load
Make sure the cylinder is held well above its base, not just at the bottom, so it cannot tip when the trolley turns or stops. A holding and clamping mechanism keeps the cylinder or vessel in place during movement and when parked.
Full weight
Tell us the full weight of the cylinder or the filled vessel, so the frame and castors are rated for it.
Wheels and brakes
Choose wheels for your floors, and brakes so the trolley can be parked safely next to equipment. Heavy-duty 360° swivel castors turn easily in tight spaces, and brakes keep the trolley still when parked.
SS or MS
Stainless steel for cleanrooms, hospitals and wet areas; powder-coated mild steel for gas stores and yards. SS 304 or SS 316 for cleanrooms and hospitals, or mild steel with powder coating for stores and yards.
