Hydraulic Pallet Truck (SS & MS)

A hydraulic pallet truck, also called a hand pallet truck or pallet jack, is a manual truck for moving loaded pallets across a floor. Its two forks slide into the pallet's openings. Pumping the handle drives oil from a small hydraulic pump into a cylinder, which raises the forks and lifts the pallet just clear of the floor. The operator then pushes or pulls the truck by the handle, steering with the two large wheels under the pump, while smaller load wheels under the forks carry the weight. At the destination, a release lever on the handle lets the oil flow back and the forks lower gently.

Because one person can move a heavy pallet without a forklift, pallet trucks are used in almost every store, dispatch area and production floor. They need little more than a smooth, level floor, and they turn in tight spaces where a forklift cannot go.

A high-lift pallet truck adds a scissor mechanism under the forks, so it can raise the pallet well above floor level and hold it there. That turns it into a mobile work table: staff can load or unload the pallet at a comfortable height instead of bending down to floor level, which reduces repeated back strain.

In food, pharmaceutical and other hygiene-sensitive areas, a standard painted truck can chip and rust when it is washed. Stainless steel pallet trucks are made for those areas: they resist corrosion from water and cleaning chemicals and can be cleaned like other stainless steel equipment.

We make the SS pallet truck in SS 304 with a matt finish, and pallet trucks in mild steel as well. Our high-lift pallet truck is made in powder-coated mild steel. Both use a heavy-duty hydraulic pump, an ergonomic control handle and nylon or PU wheels for smooth rolling, and are built for high loads, easy handling and low maintenance. Safe use is simple but matters. Push the truck rather than pull it wherever you can see ahead, centre the load on the forks, never exceed the rated load, avoid slopes with a loaded pallet, and lower the forks fully when the truck is parked so nobody trips over them. Check the wheels, hydraulic seals and release lever regularly: a truck that is hard to pump, or whose forks drift down under load, needs servicing before it is used again.
