Guide
What is a mobile HEPA trolley and how does it work?
A mobile HEPA trolley is a stainless steel cabinet on castor wheels with its own blower and HEPA filter. It gives clean, filtered air to whatever is inside it, so sterile or clean materials, components and equipment can be carried from one area to another without being exposed to the air of the corridors and rooms they pass through.
At the top of the cabinet, a blower draws in air and pushes it through a HEPA filter with 99.97% efficiency into the storage space. The inside is flushed with filtered air and held at a slightly higher pressure than the surroundings, so outside air does not drift in, even as the trolley moves. A differential pressure gauge on the front panel shows that the filter and airflow are working, and a UV-C light can be used while the doors are closed to reduce microbes on exposed surfaces.
Materials are loaded in the clean area, the glass-panel doors are closed, and the trolley is wheeled to its destination on 360° swivel castors, which lock in place when it is parked. Because it carries its own clean air, it is used where a fixed pass box is not practical: for larger loads, longer routes, or moving items between buildings or floors.
Clean air during transport depends on the blower running. Mobile HEPA trolleys in the industry are often fitted with a battery or UPS so the blower keeps running away from a power socket; tell us how long your transfers take so this can be planned.
A few habits get the most out of the trolley: load only items that are already cleaned, wrapped or sterilised; check the pressure gauge before each trip; keep the doors closed while moving; and wipe the outside of the trolley down before it enters the clean area.
Construction
What goes into our mobile HEPA trolley
HEPA filter, 99.97%
A HEPA filter with 99.97% efficiency cleans the air supplied to the storage space.
Differential pressure gauge
Shows the pressure across the filter, so staff can see the airflow is working.
UV-C light
Reduces the microbial load on exposed surfaces while the doors are closed.
Glass-panel doors
Let staff see and check the load without opening the trolley and disturbing the filtered air inside.
360° swivel castors with lock
Easy to steer through corridors and lifts, and held still when parked.
SS 304 or SS 316
Stainless steel construction that is easy to clean and disinfect.
Applications
Where mobile HEPA trolleys are used
Sterile manufacturing
Moving sterilised components and materials between preparation and filling areas.
Biotech facilities
Carrying media, consumables and equipment between controlled suites.
Microbiology labs
Moving samples and sterile accessories between labs without exposure.
Hospitals
Carrying sterile supplies from CSSD to operation theatres.
Larger transfers
Moving loads too big for a pass box between rooms.
Between buildings and floors
Moving clean items along routes that pass through unclassified areas.
Buying guide
How to choose the right mobile HEPA trolley
What you carry
List the items, their sizes and how many per trip, so the shelves and cabinet size suit them.
Route and doors
Measure the narrowest door, lift and corridor on the route; the trolley has to pass through all of them.
Transfer time
Tell us how long a trip takes, so you can plan how the blower is powered while the trolley is away from a socket.
UV-C use
Decide when the UV-C runs; it only reaches surfaces in its direct line of sight and supports, not replaces, cleaning.
Material grade
SS 304 for most areas; SS 316 where strong disinfectants are used often.
Filter testing and access
Plan how and how often the HEPA filter will be checked, and keep access to it clear.
How we work
From enquiry to installation
Every mobile HEPA trolley is built to order through the same six stages, so it fits your site and the way you work.
- 01
Planning: the items you move and the route they take
- 02
Evaluation: size, shelves, filtration, UV-C and power arrangement
- 03
Inspection: doors, lifts, corridors and floors on the route at your site
- 04
Design: drawings shared for your approval before fabrication
- 05
Manufacturing: fabricated in-house at our Pune factory
- 06
Installation: delivered, commissioned and handed over at your site
Supply across India
Mobile HEPA trolley manufacturer in Pune, supplying across India
Neelansh Equipments & Machines manufactures mobile HEPA trolleys in-house at our factory in Hadapsar, Pune, and supplies them across India, including Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore and Ahmedabad. Each trolley is built to the size of your loads and the route it has to travel.
For transfers through a wall between two rooms, a pass box is usually simpler; for storing clean items in one place, see our SS HEPA cabinet and garment cubicle. Tell us what you need to move and the route, and send us your requirement for a quotation. Include the largest item you carry and the narrowest door or lift on the way. For static clean work zones, see our laminar air flow units and all cleanroom equipment.

Questions
F.A.Q.
Do you supply mobile HEPA trolleys outside Pune?
Yes. We manufacture in Pune and supply mobile HEPA trolleys across India, including Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore and Ahmedabad. Share your requirement and we will send a quotation.
When should I use a mobile HEPA trolley instead of a pass box?
A pass box moves small items through a wall between two neighbouring rooms. A mobile HEPA trolley carries larger loads, or items that have to travel along corridors, between floors or between buildings, under its own HEPA-filtered air.
What does the differential pressure gauge on a HEPA trolley show?
It shows the pressure across the HEPA filter. A steady reading means air is flowing through the filter as expected; a change tells you the filter or blower needs checking.
