About This Product

Product Overview

Neelansh Equipments & Machines manufactures vacuum steam sterilizers for pharmaceutical, biotech and laboratory use. Air is removed from the chamber by vacuum before steam is let in, so steam reaches every surface of porous and wrapped loads, and a vacuum at the end of the cycle dries the load.

Guide

What is a vacuum steam sterilizer and how does it work?

A vacuum steam sterilizer, also called a pre-vacuum or high-vacuum autoclave, sterilises items with saturated steam under pressure inside a closed stainless steel chamber. What sets it apart is the vacuum system: before steam is let in, a vacuum pump draws the air out of the chamber and out of the load, usually in a series of vacuum and steam pulses.

Removing the air is the whole point. Air is heavier than steam and does not mix with it, so any air left in a pack, a folded garment, a filter or a length of tubing forms a cold pocket that steam cannot reach. Items in that pocket do not get hot enough for long enough and may not be sterile. Once the air is out, steam reaches every surface almost at once, condenses on it and gives up its heat.

A typical cycle has three stages. Conditioning: vacuum and steam pulses remove the air and heat the load. Exposure: the chamber is held at the set temperature for the set time; widely used reference settings are 121 °C or 132 to 135 °C, with the shorter times at the higher temperature, but the actual cycle is set and validated for each load. Drying: a final vacuum removes the steam and moisture, so wrapped items come out dry and are not recontaminated in storage.

A gravity autoclave, by contrast, relies on steam pushing air down and out through a drain. That works for unwrapped solid items and liquids, but it leaves air behind in porous, wrapped and hollow loads. This is why pharmaceutical and biotech plants use vacuum steam sterilizers for garments, filters, machine parts and stoppers, while simple gravity units suit basic lab work.

We manufacture vacuum steam sterilizers in-house in stainless steel and make each one to order, with the chamber, doors and loading equipment planned around the items you sterilise and the room where it will stand.

Vacuum steam sterilizers we have made

Construction

The main parts of a vacuum steam sterilizer

Pressure chamber

A stainless steel chamber that holds the load and withstands steam pressure; a jacket around it keeps the walls hot.

Vacuum system

A vacuum pump removes air before exposure and pulls the drying vacuum at the end of the cycle.

Doors and seals

One door, or two doors for a pass-through unit built into a wall, sealed against pressure and interlocked so they cannot open mid-cycle.

Steam supply

Clean steam from the plant supply or a dedicated generator, piped in through valves and filters.

Controls and records

A control system runs the cycle and records temperature, pressure and time for each batch.

Loading trolleys and racks

Stainless steel trolleys and racks to load the chamber evenly and move items in and out.

Applications

What vacuum steam sterilizers are used for

Cleanroom garments

Coveralls, hoods, overshoes and other gowning items sterilised before entering aseptic areas.

Machine change parts

Filling needles, hoppers, guides and other change parts before aseptic assembly.

Filters and tubing

Filter housings, cartridges, hoses and tubing: porous and hollow items that need air removed.

Stoppers and components

Rubber stoppers, closures and components in bags or containers.

Glassware and lab items

Glassware, media containers and accessories in QC and microbiology labs.

Biotech production

Vessel parts, sampling items and process equipment in biotech plants.

Buying guide

How to choose the right vacuum steam sterilizer

Your loads

List what you sterilise, the largest item and how much goes in per batch. The load decides the chamber size and the cycles you need.

Chamber size

Size the chamber for your largest batch with space around the items for steam to circulate, not packed to the walls.

Single door or pass-through

A double-door unit built into the cleanroom wall lets you load on the unclassified side and unload on the clean side, keeping the two flows apart.

Steam and services

Plan the steam source, water, drain, compressed air and power, and the space behind the unit for maintenance access.

Testing and validation

Agree how cycles will be qualified and checked in routine use, for example daily air-removal (Bowie-Dick type) tests and temperature mapping.

Loading equipment

Decide how loads will be carried and positioned: trolleys, racks, trays and perforated boxes that suit your items.

How we work

From enquiry to installation

Every vacuum steam sterilizer is built to order through the same six stages, so it fits your site and the way you work.

  1. 01

Planning: the items you sterilise, batch sizes and where the sterilizer will stand

  2. 02

Evaluation: chamber size, door layout, loading equipment and material

  3. 03

Inspection: room space, wall opening and services at your site

  4. 04

Design: drawings shared for your approval before fabrication

  5. 05

Manufacturing: fabricated in-house at our Pune factory

  6. 06

Installation: delivered, installed and handed over at your site

Supply across India

Vacuum steam sterilizer manufacturer in Pune, supplying across India

Neelansh Equipments & Machines manufactures vacuum steam sterilizers in-house at our factory in Hadapsar, Pune, and supplies them across India, including Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore and Ahmedabad.

We also make SS 316 autoclave trays and perforated sterilizer boxes for loading. Sterilised items are often moved into the clean area through an SS pass box, and kept clean afterwards in an SS HEPA cabinet or a garment cubicle. See the full range of cleanroom equipment, and send us your requirement with the items you sterilise, your batch sizes and the space available.

Questions

F.A.Q.

Do you supply vacuum steam sterilizers outside Pune?

Yes. We manufacture in Pune and supply vacuum steam sterilizers across India, including Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore and Ahmedabad. Share your requirement and we will send a quotation.

How is a vacuum steam sterilizer different from a gravity autoclave?

A gravity autoclave relies on steam pushing air out of the chamber, which leaves air trapped inside wrapped, porous or hollow items. A vacuum steam sterilizer removes the air with a vacuum pump first, so steam reaches those items, and dries the load with a vacuum at the end.

What can be sterilised in it?

Items that tolerate steam and heat, such as cleanroom garments, machine change parts, filling components, filters, tubing and glassware. Tell us what you sterilise and we will plan the chamber and loading trolleys around it.

What is the difference between a steam sterilizer and an autoclave?

They are the same kind of machine: an autoclave is a pressure chamber that sterilises with steam, and "steam sterilizer" is the more formal name. A vacuum steam sterilizer is an autoclave with a vacuum system that removes air before steam is let in.

Why do porous and wrapped loads need a vacuum cycle?

Air trapped inside packs, garments, filters and tubing blocks the steam, leaving cold spots that may not be sterilised. A vacuum cycle pulls that air out first, so steam reaches every surface, and dries the load at the end.

What is a Bowie-Dick test?

A daily check of a vacuum sterilizer's air removal. A test pack with a chemical indicator sheet is run in an empty chamber before the first load; an even colour change shows that steam reached the centre, and a patch of unchanged colour shows trapped air.
