What is an SS step ladder and where is it used?
An SS step ladder is a free-standing set of stainless steel steps that lets operators reach the top of machines, hoppers, tall racks and storage safely. In pharmaceutical and food plants it replaces aluminium or painted ladders, which corrode, shed particles and are hard to clean in the same way as the rest of the room.
Safety comes from the design as much as from how it is used. Steps need a non-slip surface, the frame must stand firm without rocking, and the user should keep three points of contact while climbing: two hands and a foot, or two feet and a hand. For work at height that takes more than a moment, a ladder with a platform and side rails lets the operator stand steadily and use both hands.
Our SS step ladders are built in SS 304 or SS 316 with dimple-top steps for grip, adjustable SS legs for levelling and stability, and stiffeners under the steps for strength. They are available with wheels for movement, with rail guards, and with adjustable or removable guards. We have supplied ladders over 2,400 mm high, and build each to the height and space you have.

How to choose the right step ladder
Working height
Measure the highest point the operator needs to reach and choose the platform height from that. Number of steps, height and platform size made to suit the machines you reach; we have supplied ladders over 2,400 mm high.
Platform or steps
A platform with rails suits longer tasks at height; simple steps suit quick reaches.
Fixed or mobile
Adjustable legs for a ladder that stays in one place; castors for one that moves between machines. Wheels for ladders that move around the room, with adjustable legs for stability when parked.
Rails and guards
Choose side rails or removable guards to match how long people stand at the top. Side rails and guards, fixed or adjustable and removable, for safer climbing and standing.
Step surface
Dimpled or anti-slip steps give grip on wet floors and with cleanroom footwear. Raised dimples on each step give grip, including with cleanroom footwear.
Material grade
