SS Apron & Pan Trolley

An apron trolley and a pan trolley are two specialised stainless steel trolleys for moving items that are awkward to carry by hand. An apron trolley carries aprons and garments so they can be taken to and from change rooms, wash areas and the laundry without being bundled up, dropped or put down on dirty surfaces. A pan trolley, also called a tray trolley or tray rack trolley, is a tall frame with pairs of runners at regular heights, so pans and trays slide in one above the other and can be moved together.

A pan trolley saves both floor space and handling. Instead of carrying trays one at a time, a whole stack is loaded at one point and wheeled to the next: from a preparation area to a dryer, an oven, a cold room or a store, and back to the wash area. Tray dryers and ovens in pharmaceutical and food plants work the same way, with trays stacked on a mobile trolley that is loaded and unloaded as a unit. The runners hold each tray level and keep a gap between trays, so air can move between them and items on one tray do not touch the tray above.

Because both trolleys come into contact with garments, trays and the products on them, they need to be easy to clean. Smooth stainless steel with rounded edges and welded joints can be washed and wiped down along with the items it carries, and does not hold dirt or water in hidden corners. A matt or mirror finish makes residue easy to see and remove.
