SS Perforated Trolley

A perforated trolley is a stainless steel trolley whose shelves, trays or panels are punched with a regular pattern of holes. The holes let air move around whatever sits on the shelves and let water drain straight through, so washed items do not stand in a pool of water and stored items stay dry. Solid shelves, by contrast, trap water and slow down drying, which is where moisture and contamination can build up.

That is why perforated shelving is used in wash and drying areas, and for storing items that must be kept dry: washed parts, containers, utensils, change parts and packed materials. Water from washed items runs through the shelves rather than collecting on them, and air reaches every side of the load, so items dry faster after washing. A perforated shelf is still a full shelf, so small and large items both sit on it safely, unlike a wire rack with wide gaps.

A trolley also lets the load be moved without handling each item again. Items can be loaded at the wash area, left on the trolley to drain and dry, and then wheeled to the store or the production area. The trolley should have smooth surfaces, rounded edges and welded joints, so it can be washed with the items it carries and does not hold water or dirt in hidden corners.

A perforated trolley is not the same as a wire or mesh trolley. Mesh is open and light, which suits bulky items such as linen and cartons, but small parts can fall through it and it is harder to wipe clean. A perforated sheet gives a flat, rigid surface with a solid edge around it, so it carries small and heavy items alike while still letting water and air through.
